Mon, 21 Mar 2022 10:19:47 CDT
Statewide Discussion: Heavy initial attack activity occurred across Oklahoma yesterday with fire reporting ongoing. One firefighter fatality occurred on a wildfire in Comanche County yesterday during operations on the King Road Fire.
The forecast for today is dominated by precipitation chances with opportunity for wetting amounts statewide. Amount of precipitation and duration will be critical regarding composite fuel moisture improvement. A winter weather advisory is in effect for the Panhandle counties while sever storm potential exists in other areas of the state. Fire weather potential returns midweek with focus on far western and southwestern Oklahoma placing emphasis on the amount and duration of precipitation today.
Near-Term: The current Quantitative Precipitation Forecast holds promise of soaking rains and winter precipitation in the Panhandle. The 6-10 Day Outlook points to a return to dry conditions placing emphasis on the effectiveness of precipitation potential today and this evening.
