Greg Willis at Okie Hunts Helping Producers Manage Hunting Leases

Mon, 28 Mar 2022 12:03:33 CDT

Greg Willis at Okie Hunts Helping Producers Manage Hunting Leases Since 1999, Okie Hunts has been one of Oklahoma's leading Hunting Lease land services for farmers, landowners, deer hunters, and other types of hunters.

Farm Director KC Sheperd spoke with owner Greg Willis. He said this gives landowners peace of mind when leasing their hunting land because you don't have to worry about people leaving the gates open, littering, or having people not approved to hunt on the land. He said it's also helpful because you don't have to go through the hassle of finding quality hunters, "It's kind of a hassle to keep your hand leased out every year to find good quality hunters that you can trust over time. So that's another reason that legal documentation is a big part of it. We've had an attorney draw up our lease agreement with the waiver, and we also put insurance on the property."

Willis said they provide different types of hunts, including wild hogs, deer, and other gaming animals, "In our description on our website, it'll say what type of animals they see on the property, and we'll grab that information directly from the land."

Willis understands that Land-leases are usually not a producer's primary income. Hence, Okiehunts tries to take all the hassle out of leasing for them and says it's pretty easy to get started, "you can contact us, and then we'll start asking you some questions, telling you a little bit about what we do and how we do it. We can answer pretty much all the unknowns that the landowners have. We've been doing it for 23 years now, and we've got about 100 properties at this point, and we just continue to grow every day."

Willis Adds that this is beneficial to the landowner because they don't have to worry about any sort of retaliation by saying "NO" to people that want to hunt. The only people hunting will be verified, "we provide a very thorough hunting lease document; we call them hunting licenses. So every single person that's going to be hunting on a piece of property has this document on them at all times. They have to provide proof that they have permission to be on that property. "They also offer general liability insurance.

He says landowners have been very vocal about what and who they do and don't want on their land, "We through talking to the landowners, we kind of learn about what the landowner likes and doesn't like and when we get hunters calling us on properties, we actually screen them and try to make sure that they're going to be a good fit with the Landowner."

Okie Hunts says landowners can expect to:
Have a Hunting Lease Insurance policy if they wish.
Earn easy income from leasing your property.
Keep your hunting property leased year after year.
Easy yearly cancellation option.
Ensure your rules will be followed.
Always know the names of who is hunting your property.
Get your listing in front of thousands of hunters.
The landowner pays no fee or commissions.

Willis said they also provide a service to hunters who want to hunt and get a leg-up on the competition, "We have a feature on our website called the Earlybird membership, which is $89 per year or until you lease a property. The way that works is it notifies anybody who's a member seven days in advance of it going live on the website. It says Hey, new properties available at okiehunts. Click here to see it." Then hunters click on the link, and they get seven days' early access to view that property and decide if they want to purchase it.

Willis says whether you are a landowner or a hunter, okiehunts has something for you. You can find all the information at Okiehunts.com.
