Oklahoma Plants Third Highest Acres of Cotton in U.S. for 2022

On Thursday, June 30, the USDA released its Acreage and June Quarterly Grain Stocks Reports. Oklahoma Faired well compared to last year's plantings and acres harvested on most commodities. This year, the state of Oklahoma planted 550,000 acres of cotton, which is the third highest in the United States for acres of cotton planted.
Below is a summary of statistics from Oklahoma plantings of corn, cotton, wheat, sorghum, soybeans and hay:
CORN:
Oklahoma planted 380,000 acres or corn, ahead of last year's planted acres of 340,000.
330,000 acres of corn were harvested for grain, also ahead of last year's 295,000.
COTTON:
Oklahoma planted 550,000 acres of cotton this year, ahead of last year's planted acres of 495,000.
Harvested acres for cotton this year are not available yet, but last's year's harvested acres for Oklahoma cotton were reported at 440,000 acres.
WHEAT:
Oklahoma planted 4,400,000 acres of wheat this year, which is the same as last year.
Only 2,700,000 acres of wheat were harvested this year, below last year's number of 2,950,000.
According to the USDA Quarterly Grain Stocks report, Oklahoma is reported at 77,761,000 bushels of wheat, ahead of last year's reported bushels of 69,681,000.
SORGHUM:
Oklahoma planted 360,000 acres of sorghum this year, far below last year's reported planted acreage of 430,000 acres.
310,000 acres or sorghum were harvested for grain, also below last year's 380,000 harvested acres.
SOYBEANS:
Oklahoma planted 490,000 acres of soybeans this year, below last year's planted acreage of 580,000.
460,000 acres of soybeans were harvested this year, also below last year's 535,000 harvested acres.
HAY:
Oklahoma harvested 2,920,000 acres of hay this year, below last year's harvested acres of 2,950,000.
