Democrat Hoffmeister Refuses to Answer Questions from Rural Oklahoma

Wed, 26 Oct 2022 16:31:05 CDT

Democrat Hoffmeister Refuses to Answer Questions from Rural Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt today participated in the Oklahoma Radio Network’s Governors Forum on Agriculture sponsored by the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and the Oklahoma Farm Bureau in Lawton, Okla.

Gov. Stitt confirmed his participation for this free, public event several weeks ago, while the Democrat State Superintendent chose to not attend and be questioned on-the-record by a moderator about her liberal party’s disastrous agenda for rural America.

“When Joy Hofmeister couldn’t see a path forward for her personal political career in the Republican party, she joined Joe Biden’s Democrat party,” said Gov. Stitt as he addressed the critical role a governor provides of appointing hundreds of Oklahomans to agencies and board seats. “A vote for Hofmeister is a vote for Drew Edmondson as the next Secretary of Agriculture.”

With hundreds in attendance, Governor Kevin Stitt reflected on his successful agenda which has spurred new growth and economic prosperity for rural Oklahoma.

In his first term, Governor Stitt modernized SoonerSelect, which will inject $700 million in federal dollars to local, rural hospitals annually beginning in late 2023. As reported in the Oklahoman, Democrat State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister promised to kill Gov. Stitt’s $700 million in funding and refused to answer questions at the forum on what her plan is to replace these critical funds.

“I’ve secured $700 million in new funding for rural, local hospitals through Medicaid reforms, while Democrat Hofmeister is on the record saying she will terminate this funding,” said Gov. Stitt. “She couldn’t show up to this forum because she can’t answer the tough questions about her reckless intentions for rural healthcare.”

While Governor Stitt has funded public education at historic highs and introduced new funding streams for the smallest rural schools, to include the Redbud Act, Hofmeister’s plan during COVID was to mandate masks on children as young as 4 years old and support closing access to the classroom, refusing to stand up for the parents and students who suffered 355 days of shuttered classrooms in urban centers. As a result, the NAEP scores released on Oct. 24 show Oklahoma had one of the steepest drops in test scores in the nation under Hofmeister’s watch.

“Rural Oklahoma is my priority and your way of life will always be protected under my watch,” said Gov. Kevin Stitt. “The Democrat opponent couldn’t show up to this debate because it is her liberal, big-government tax-and-mandate agenda that threatens all that we love about rural Oklahoma.”

Additionally, Governor Stitt has tirelessly fought to protect rural landowners from the medical marijuana industry that was spurred after the passage of State Question 788. Governor Stitt banned foreign nationalists from buying Oklahoma land while hiring 80+ new law enforcement officers to bust illegal marijuana growers.

Meanwhile, Democrat State Superintendent Hofmeister failed to attend the public forum in rural Oklahoma to answer for why she joined the liberal Biden party that advocates to defund the police.
