Bradshaw, Norvell and Wilke Receive Honorary American Degree from National FFA

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 12:17:22 CDT

Bradshaw, Norvell and Wilke Receive Honorary American Degree from National FFA Monica Wilke served as the State Secretary of the Oklahoma FFA in 1992-93- and her love for the organization is just as strong today as it was the year she served as a state officer. Wilke traveled to Louisville this week to attend the 88th National Convention of the FFA- receiving an Honorary American Degree from the organization.

Wilke currently serves as the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau- and she tells Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays that Farm Bureau loves to support the FFA in any way they can- because "this is the future- this is the future of agriculture- these are the future leaders and so Farm Bureau absolutely will always support this organzation because they are producing the best and the brightest- always have, always will."

Pictured here are three Honorary American Degree Recipients from Oklahoma in 2015- from left to right, State Advisor for Oklahoma FFA Jack Staats, Burlington FFA Advisor Travis Bradshaw, Monica Wilke of Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Tyler Norvell with Oklahoma Youth Expo and Executive Secretary of the Oklahoma FFA, Kent Boggs.

The National FFA says of the Honorary American Degree that "Individuals who have provided exceptional service to agriculture, agricultural education, or FFA are eligible for the Honorary American FFA Degree."

Also honored on Friday morning in Louisville was the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Youth Expo, Tyler Norvell. Norvell told Hays that he was deeply grateful to Kent Boggs, Jack Staats and Kurt Murray for their hours and hours of involvement year after year at the world's largest junior livestock show.

Tyler credits his ability to interact with people and to approach problems with the critical thinking skills that he developed during his career in the FFA- and expressed his gratitude for being recognized at the 2015 National Convention.

Monica Wilke and Tyler Norvell were two of the 149 adult supporters of the 629,000 member youth organization that had the Honorary American Degree bestowed upon them. You can hear their comments about the award and their support for the Blue and Gold by clicking on the LISTEN BAR below.
