Tara Newton of Kingfisher captured the FFA prepared public speaking title during the 84th State FFA Convention on April 28. With this win, Newton will represent Oklahoma FFA at the National FFA Prepared Public Speaking Contest in October.
Newtons's award-winning speech, which also earned her top honors in the animal science division at the Oklahoma State University Speech Contest, was titled "A Fork in the Road: Where do You Stand?"
The FFA speech contest allows young FFA members to give a six- to eight-minute prepared speech about a variety of agriculturally related topics and is divided into 11 divisions.
Davis Farms and First National Bank of Thomas will sponsor Newton in the National FFA Speech Contest in October. Newton's FFA advisors are Ryan Burns and Lori Burns.
