Meet National Proficiency Winner in Forage Production- Brandon Folger of Ringwood

Meet National Proficiency Winner in Forage Production- Brandon Folger of Ringwood For the second year in a row, Oklahoma had a dominating presence in the National Proficiency Awards that are selected and presented at the National FFA Convention. In 2009, Oklahoma had the most National Finalists who competed in Indianapolis- and the most National Winners. That was repeated in 2010, as Oklahoma had a total of 22 National Finalists in the 47 Proficiency Award areas- and eight of those young men and ladies were declared the National winner in their category. California and Illinois were each able to claim five National Proficiency awards apiece, while Georgia, Nebraska and Wisconsin managed three apiece.

Brandon Folger of the Ringwood FFA Chapter in Oklahoma was the winner in Indianapolis in the Forage Production Profiency.

Brandon had no background in agriculture before joining FFA and developing an SAE. And while he admits that he initially started his project as merely a way to make money, he has since become passionate about agriculture and his work. For his forage production project, he is charge with scouting for insects, spraying and loading semis with the finished project.

Brandon was not able to be at the convention on Friday afternoon- and we were not able to visit with him about his project as a result.
