Kingfisher FFA Livestock Judging Team Races to a Convincing Victory in Indianapolis at the National FFA Convention

Mon, 25 Oct 2010 3:36:48 CDT

Kingfisher FFA Livestock Judging Team Races to a Convincing Victory in Indianapolis at the National FFA Convention A proud tradition at Kingfisher High School grew this past week in Indianapolis as Kingfisher FFA added yet about National Title to their Trophy Case- winning the 2010 National FFA Convention Livestock Judging Contest. A squad from Kingfisher also dominated the National FFA Convention Livestock Judging contest in 2006- winning the National Title that year as well.

This Kingfisher livestock judging team won their "triple-crown" as they were named National FFA Champions this Friday, racing ahead of second place Oregon by 69 points. High individual was Kyle Mueggenborg, 3rd high was McKenzie Walta, and 7th was Josh Lippoldt and Audrey Gruntmeir placed 16th nationally. They were also the high-placing team in the written exam and in sheep and goats.

This completes a long streak of national titles won by this particular team, including 2-time American Royal championships and the champion team at the National Western Livestock Expo in Denver. The team has been coached by Ryan Burns, who teaches Ag-Ed in Kingfisher along with his wife, Lori.

All four students are currently freshmen at Oklahoma State University.

It marks a second National Title at a National FFA Convention for McKenzie Walta, who won the National Prepared Public Speaking title in 2009.

Our picture here shows the winning Kingfisher squad- Left to Right: Kyle Mueggenborg, McKenzie Walta, Audrey Gruntmeir, and Josh Lippoldt.
