Riley Pagett- Ready to ServeTue, 09 Nov 2010 5:34:01 CST
Riley Pagett of Woodward is getting ready. On October 23, 2010, he heard his name called out as the new National President of the FFA Organization, which means his life for the next twelve months will be all about the Blue and Gold jacket that symbolizes the organization.
Pagett will lead a six member national officer team over the next year. Fulfilling his position will require traveling more than 100,000 miles; meeting top leaders in business, government and education; visiting approximately 40 states; and participating in an international experience tour to Japan. His responsibilities will include providing personal growth and leadership training for students, setting policies that shape the future of the organization and promoting agricultural literacy.
We sat down and visited with Riley on campus at Oklahoma State University. He is quickly finishing his fall semester obligations at OSU- then will take two semesters off in order to fulfill his new "job" as the national leader of this agricultural youth organization. We talked about waiting to hear his name called on stage in Indianapolis last month- as well as getting ready for the year ahead.

Pagett ran for National Office in 2009- was not selected, but decided this past spring, he would try again. This time around- he was offered the chance to be a National Officer- and he is starting to get used to the idea of this being his direction for the coming year.
