Introducing Your 2018 Northwest Star in Agribusiness, Logan Maher of the Mooreland FFA Chapter

Thu, 19 Apr 2018 11:07:46 CDT

Introducing Your 2018 Northwest Star in Agribusiness, Logan Maher of the Mooreland FFA Chapter During the month of April, the Radio Oklahoma Ag Network and Oklahoma Farm Report is spotlighting the twenty Area Stars of Oklahoma FFA that are among the highest achievers in the organization. The stars come from the five areas in four categories- Star in Ag Placement, Star in Agriscience, Star in Agribusiness and Star in Production Agriculture. This week, we are spotlighting the five area stars in Agribusiness, who will compete for the State Star Award in Agribusiness during the Oklahoma State FFA Convention coming up May 1-2, 2018 in Oklahoma City.

Today, we would like to introduce your Northwest Area Star in Agribusiness, Logan Maher of the Mooreland FFA Chapter. Since 2014, Maher has operated a successful lawncare business, growing his operation from an initial 10 customers to more than 50 today, serving customers with both commercial and residential properties. Maher says the most valuable skills he has had to learn on the job to be successful include maintaining a high-level of customer service and satisfaction, keeping accurate financial and service records and developing practical mechanical knowledge used to keep his equipment running efficiently.

Involved with multiple activities through the FFA during his time in high school, Maher says he has grown into leader, exhibiting a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility as a small business owner, thanks to his experiences participating in livestock evaluation, showing swine and various leadership opportunities.

"(FFA) created a platform for me to grow from," he said. "When I first entered into FFA, I was really quiet and now I'm outspoken and talk to everybody."

After graduation, Maher plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a double-major in Ag-Economic and Accounting.
