Ridge Hughbanks Says He Was All Gas- No Brakes During This Week's National Officer Selection Process- Waits for Final Word

Ridge Hughbanks Says He Was All Gas- No Brakes During This Week's National Officer Selection Process- Waits for Final Word It's a process that repeats itself each year- about twenty FFA members from across the country find themselves waiting to find out if they will get another year of wearing the Blue and Gold jacket that has no name on the back of it- just the organization's logo. It's a total of 23 members this week that find themselves waiting until sometime late Saturday afternoon- after President Donald Trump comes and speaks to what will be a full Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. And one of those young men and women is Ridge Hughbanks of Alva, Oklahoma.

Hughbanks and the other officer candidates from 22 different states have finished their interviews- and now wait to see how the Nominating Committee has cobbled together a team of six individuals that will hopefully come together and serve as a team over the next year for the over 650,000 members of the National FFA.

Hughbanks told Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays that he feels like after the letter he received on Monday night told him that he was one of the top 50% over the overall candidate field- that things got easier- that he had fun in going through the interviews that will result in six names being called out on Saturday afternoon- "it was all gas- no brakes and frankly it was a lot of fun.". He says that he believes he finished strong- and that is what he wanted.

Hughbanks hopes to the second national officer in as many years from Oklahoma- following in the footsteps of Piper Merritt who has served on the National Officer team leading this year's National FFA Convention.
