Seth McCaa of the Elmore City - Pernell FFA Named 2019 Star in Ag Placement for Oklahoma FFA

Seth McCaa of the Elmore City - Pernell FFA Named 2019 Star in Ag Placement for Oklahoma FFA The 2019 Central Area Star in Agriculture Placement, Seth McCaa of the Elmore City - Pernell FFA Chapter has been named the Star in Ag Placement at the 93 rd Oklahoma FFA Convention. Seth is recognized for his work while employed at Coppin Ranch Hand Services, working for farmers and ranchers in his area. Seth is also employed by Diamond R Ranch, a multimillion-dollar race horse operation located in Pauls Valley. At his jobs, Seth works daily with livestock and especially horses.

"I grew up riding horses my entire life. My dad was a horse trainer," Seth said, remembering how he first became interested in the equine industry. "So, the equine industry is something that I've been involved in forever and I knew immediately when I wanted to get a job - I wanted it to be with horses. It's something I'm very passionate about."

In addition to caring for livestock and tending to daily tasks such as feeding and general husbandry, he has undergone specialized training in order to perform more advanced duties including embryo transfers and specimen collection. Seth says the skills and knowledge he has picked up on the job have helped him to be successful in his FFA career as well, and vice versa. Throughout high school, he has excelled in public speaking events and proficiency contests among other things.

"FFA has been an organization that's been near and dear to my heart. I recognize the character qualities that I've gotten from it, so I want my kids to experience that too," he said. "I know all the skills learned performing these daily tasks will carry with me."

After graduation, Seth plans to attend university though he remains undecided at this point where he will choose to go and what area he will choose to study. What he is certain about however, is that his future will include heavy involvement in the equine industry.
