Caleb Horne of Morrison FFA Reaches National Final Four in the Creed Presentation
Fri, 01 Nov 2019 05:26:22
Oklahoma FFA's Caleb Horne of the Morrison FFA Chapter has advanced to the National Final Four in the Creed Speaking Contest at the 2019 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Horne spoke twice on Thursday and then was successful in advancing in both of those rounds. The National Final Four is on Friday. (the picture here is of the Final Four as named on Thursday evening- Caleb Horn is on the left)
Creed contestants must recite the FFA Creed, as written by E.M. Tiffany, and then answer five minutes of questions about what several of the phrases within the Creed mean to them. Earlier in 2019, Horne won the state Creed Contest in Oklahoma to win the right to represent the state in Indianapolis.
Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays talked with Horne about his work leading up to participating in the national contest- and he says that the opening line of the Creed- "I Believe in the Future of Agriculture" means a lot to him- "it means so much to me- it basically is all about how we as agriculturalists go about our everyday lives- thinking ahead to the future, thinking about what we can do to be able to feed all those people in the year 2050 you know- it's basically just a mindset for our day to day lives as agriculturalists."
Hays asked Caleb to recite the creed- and you can hear him do that in their conversation as well.
