Wed, 28 Apr 2021 15:15:07 CDT

Your 2021 Oklahoma FFA Star in Ag Placement- Emma Victery of Chickasha FFA The 2021 Oklahoma FFA Star in Ag Placement is Emma Victery, a member of the Chickasha FFA.

Victery was named the statewide Star in Ag Placement during the Wednesday afternoon General Session of the 95th Annual Convention of the Oklahoma FFA. Kenzie was presented with the Governor's Trophy and a cash award of $1,700 sponsored by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Coops.

After her name was called out- a video produced by Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays and JD Rosman with the Oklahoma Youth Expo. Watch that salute by clicking on the play button in the video box below.

Victery's project involved working on the family farm and ranch near Ninnekah.

I have really enjoyed working with my family and I do want to be involved in the cattle industry the rest of my life, she said.

Learning details of the dynamic family business ranked as one of the key surprises for Victery.

We do have a commercial business and I didn't realize not everyone uses the technology we use, she said, referring to the volume of artificial insemination the family business employs.

Some of my favorite FFA moments include winning the national beef production SAE award, she said.

Victery credits her family and ag advisors for helping her succed.

The main thing FFA has taught me is to get out of my comfort zone, she said.

I think it is very important for FFA to encourage young members to get out of their comfort zone, giving speeches and getting involved in other projects, she said.

Future plans call for Victery to attend Eastern Oklahoma State College, and Oklahoma State University, participating on the meats judging team at both institutions.

She eventually wants to become a veterinarian specializing in cattle reproduction, return home and continue working with her family's cattle business.
