Oklahoma FFA Set for a Historic Move to Tulsa and Their 2022 State FFA ConventionMon, 04 Apr 2022 08:15:46 CDT
It's just four weeks away from the 2022 Oklahoma FFA State Convention- which will be held in downtown Tulsa for the first time ever. Oklahoma Farm Report's Ron Hays talked with the Executive Secretary of the Oklahoma FFA, Trevor Lucas, about the decision to put Oklahoma City in the rear view mirror and sign a multi year deal with Tulsa- assuring that the this year's convention and four more will be held in northeastern Oklahoma- and that may stretch well into the 2030s. The fifth year of the current five year deal will be the 2026 State Convention- which will be the 100th Anniversary Convention.
Lucas explained how the logistics have swung in a big way to the facility package that Tulsa currently offers- and fits the long desired template that the Oklahoma FFA has demanded. Oklahoma City was able to provide what was then the Chesapeake Arena in 2021- but in a normal year- the dates that have always been used by Oklahoma FFA would not be available because of the demand by the NBA that the arena not be leased to anyone but the NBA franchise during the playoff season.
That opened the door for Tulsa- and they have stepped up and checked off every box wanted by the Oklahoma FFA to continue their convention exactly as it has always been- just a hundred miles further east.
Listen to Ron and Trevor explore the implications of the move to Tulsa- and how things are shaping up for the first ever Tulsa gathering May third and fourth. Click on the LISTEN Bar at the bottom of the story.
