Introducing Macy Koch of the Perry FFA Chapter, Your 2022 Northwest Area Star in Agricultural Placement

Wed, 13 Apr 2022 08:19:48 CDT

Introducing Macy Koch of the Perry FFA Chapter, Your 2022 Northwest Area Star in Agricultural Placement During the month of April, the Radio Oklahoma Ag Network and Oklahoma Farm Report is spotlighting the 17 Area Stars of Oklahoma FFA that are among the highest achievers in the organization.

The stars come from the five areas in four categories- Star in Ag Placement, Star in Agriscience, Star in Agribusiness and Star in Agricultural Production.

This week, we spotlight the four area stars in Agricultural Placement in 2022.

One Star Finalist featured in the coming days from each of the categories, will be named the State Star Award Winner during the 96th Oklahoma State FFA Convention coming up May 3 and 4th in Tulsa, Okla.

This week, our coverage of the 2022 Oklahoma FFA Star Award Finalists begins with Agricultural Placement competitor Macy Koch of the Perry FFA chapter representing the Northwest Area.

Koch's project involved working at Crooked Creek Kennels, a dog boarding facility located ten miles outside of Perry, Okla.

"I will start off with saying I love my job," Koch said. "I get to work with dogs every day and keep them in the most low-stress environment."

Koch said she also keeps up with the cleanliness and maintenance of the kennel at Crooked Creek and makes sure the dogs are taken care of each day.

"I love dogs," Koch said. "I have seven of my own at my house, so when I am not at work, I am still around dogs."

Koch plans on continuing to work at Crooked Creek Kennels part-time throughout the summer until she starts college.

Some of Koch's favorite things about her FFA career included going to contests, meeting new people, and networking across Oklahoma with people who share the same passion for agriculture as she does.

"I plan on attending Oklahoma State University, and majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology," Koch said. "That comes with a pre-vet/pre-med option, so I am planning on going into pre-med to gain experience in that field, and hopefully one day open up my own health care clinic."
