Wed, 01 May 2013 06:27:49 CDT
The 87th Annual Convention and Career Show of the Oklahoma FFA Association is underway in downtown Oklahoma City- and Tuesday evening, the organization presented the highest honor they give to adult supporters of FFA in the state to a pair of general farm organization leaders- groups that have long supported FFA in a variety of ways. Terry Detrick of Ames, President of the American Farmers and Ranchers, along with Mike Spradling of Tulsa County, President of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau- both received the Association's VIP Award for 2013.
Farm Director Ron Hays talked to both men in advance of the evening session- and you can hear their comments in a special Ag Perspective report airing today on the Radio Oklahoma Nework. Click on the LISTEN BAR below for a chance to hear both recipients.
More than 10,000 Oklahoma FFA members representing 352 high school chapters across the state are attending the 87th Annual State FFA Convention, April 30-May 1, at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City. This year's convention theme is Grow. Growing as an individual and leader is an important component of FFA. By exercising exceptional leadership skills, FFA members discover the significance of being a good role model, and most importantly, serving others. Through agricultural education and FFA, these young people are realizing the true power of growing as a leader.
