Reality TV Star Chris Soules Takes Passion for Agriculture to National FFA Convention

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 15:13:57 CDT

Reality TV Star Chris Soules Takes Passion for Agriculture to National FFA Convention Farmer turned reality television star Chris Soules attended the 2015 National FFA Convention and Expo this week in Louisville, Kentucky. At the convention, he has been interacting with thousands of FFA members at the Monsanto Speak Ag booth.

"I think the youth are the most important part of agriculture and make sure that we cultivate them and provide a way for them to get into agriculture and educate them of the fact that agriculture is a cool industry," Soules said. "I mean its-.I can't think of anything more rewarding than being in agriculture and really promoting it and championing it is what I want to do as an ambassador."

Soules has taken his passion for agriculture to the television screen and social media. Soules has gained fame after starring on ABC's The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. He also appeared on Dancing with the Stars. The Arlington, Iowa farm kid has had plenty of opportunities to step away from the family farm, but he said farming is in his blood.

"That lifestyle is something that's ingrained in me and I am passionate about agriculture and you know quite frankly want to be able to take the fame I've received from being on all those shows and take that platform and use it be an Ambassador for agriculture," Soules said.

In making friends with people from across the United States, Soules has invited them out to his family's farm to see it for themselves. This has changed a lot of perceptions that many have about agriculture and life in the Midwest. Soules believes farmers need to be more proactive in speaking to today's consumers.

"I feel like we've just taken it for granted that the people are going to appreciate what we do," Soules said. "We really have to change our priorities to a certain extent."
