Star in Agribusiness Finalist Anthony Adams of Hooker Now Playing the Waiting Game
Fri, 24 Oct 2008 8:27:00 CDT
The Panhandle of Oklahoma is home to one of four finalists for the Star Agribusinessman of America here at the 2008 National FFA Convention. He's Anthony Adams of the Hooker FFA Chapter.
Adams' business consists of a two-combine harvest crew and support equipment. He operates within a 250-mile radius of his home, harvesting wheat, milo, sunflowers and corn. After his initial harvest, he was able to gain a solid base of prospective customers based on reputation and word-of-mouth marketing. The following year, he doubled his sales. Since that first year, his customer base has quadrupled and his acres harvested have tripled.
Anthony has completed the interview process that will determine the winner here in Indianapolis- he says he's glad about that- and now he and the other Star finalists are waiting for Saturday morning when the announcements will be made about who the four national winners are in the areas of Star Farmer, Star Agribusinessman, Star in Ag Placement and Star in Agriscience.
You can listen to our Friday morning conversation with Anthony from here at the Conseco Fieldhouse- just click on the Listen Bar below.
