Chase Kokjan is hoping for a double national win at this 2008 National FFA Convention. He is a finalist in the Agri-Entrepreneuer Competition with his start-up business, Kokojan Gamebirds, while he is also a national finalist for the Wildlife Production and Management Proficiency Award.
Kokojan is from Drummond and we caught up with him Friday morning at the Convention. You can see his exhibit as one of the Entrepreneur Finalists that is in the Career Show. He raises mostly quail and says that they requiure a lot of attention- espcially the first few weeks of their lives. He says that "word of mouth" advertising keeps him busy.
For his proficiency category, the Drummond FFA member establishes wildlife habitats for both quail and deer. He hatches and releases quail, while surveying their progress, planting food plots and trapping predators. He also creates food plots for deer, luring them to areas that will be more beneficial for hunters, thus controlling the population.
