Sage Shoulders Wins Equine Science Proficiency Award at National FFA Convention
Fri, 24 Oct 2008 22:35:41 CDT
Sage Shoulders of the Oilton FFA has won the Equine Science Proficiency Award at the 81st Annual National Convention of the FFA in Indianapolis. She is one of six Oklahoma FFA members that are bringing home a National Proficiency victory from the 2008 event.
With a great-uncle who was a sixteen-time rodeo world champion, Sage Shoulders has been riding and competing her whole life. Training her own horse to rope, the Oilton FFA member realized that she had a gift for understanding how to train horses to acquire desired results. Others have witnessed this ability and contracted Shoulders to train their horses to compete at a high level. The Oklahoma native plans to continue rodeoing while she pursues a degree in Animal Science with hopes of one day becoming a veterinarian.
Farm Director Ron Hays talked with Sage right after the announcement was made- click on the listen bar below to hear their conversation.
