Kellie Whipple of the Alva FFA Chapter has won the Wildlife Production and Management-Placement Proficiency Award at the 81st Annual National Convention of the FFA in Indianapolis. She is one of six Oklahoma FFA members that are bringing home a National Proficiency victory from the 2008 event.
Responding to an ad in the newspaper for the Great Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, Kellie Whipple knew she had found her dream job. The Alva FFA member works at the habitat, which is home to more than three hundred species of birds and thirty different types of animals. After two summers, Whipple assists in scheduling and managing the other youth workers in addition to general maintenance tasks around the farm. Whipple is in her Freshman year at Oklahoma State University.
Farm Director Ron Hays talked with Kellie right after the announcement was made- click on the listen bar below to hear their conversation.
