Brandi Moore of Haileyville Inducted as One of Two 2018 Oklahoma 4-H Hall of Fame Award Honorees

The Oklahoma 4-H Hall of Fame is a tradition that goes back more than 60 years. The past Hall of Fame winners can be found among the state and nation's leaders in education, business and government. Being inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame is the highest honor an Oklahoma 4-H member can achieve. These awards are presented annually to the top two candidates after they have been through record book reviews and face-to-face interviews. Today's winners, like all those before them, have excelled in project work, leadership development and community service.
As the winners of the Oklahoma 4-H's highest award, these two outstanding 4-H members will each receive a $2,500 college scholarship from Oklahoma Ag Credit.
Your 2018 Oklahoma 4-H Hall of Fame winners are Brandi Moore and Reagan Stephens- receiving the award at the 2018 Oklahoma 4-H Roundup on campus at Oklahoma State University.
Brandi Moore began her 4-H career much like other 4-H members. She started out showing a goat that her grandmother raised and went to a few 4-H meetings. However, project work, a host of wonderful 4-H volunteers and some great friends helped get Brandi more involved in the 4-H program that would go on to change her life.
Brandi became involved in public speaking during the Best All-Around contest and her eyes were opened. She loved public speaking but didn't love the interview portion of the contest. She eventually faced her fears of interviewing thanks to a good friend who encouraged her to apply for a county Ambassador position. She must have done something right because she served as a county Ambassador in Pittsburg County for three years. She even applied and became a State 4-H Ambassador.
Brandi used her public speaking skills she learned in 4-H to help school children in her community learn about good character. She has taught Character Counts and Character Critters almost 400 times in Haileyville and other Pittsburg County schools. She took these lessons a step further when she trained younger 4-H members to take on the character programs through Train the Trainer classes. She has continued to teach Character Critters while in college in Cherokee County. Brandi has even used her public speaking skills to promote the 4-H program nationally in a YouTube video at the National 4-H Youth in Action awards.
Brandi has served in many roles through the 4-H program. While she started as the local club song leader in 2010, Brandi has developed her leadership skills to be a servant leader in the Oklahoma 4-H program. She was a member of the Southeast District Action Team, State 4-H Ambassador and has served three years on the State 4-H Leadership Council, first as a SED Representative, State Secretary, and the 2017-2018 State 4-H President.
Brandi is the daughter of Billy and Sheryl Moore. She is a 2017 graduate of Haileyville High School and has completed her freshman year at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where she is the founding member of the NSU Collegiate 4-H Club which has 28 members in its first year.
