Devon Provides STEM Grants for Central OK FFA Chapters

Three central Oklahoma FFA chapters received boosts to their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education thanks to grants from Devon Energy.
Chandler FFA was awarded a grant for plant propagation equipment, which it will share with Meeker FFA. Horticulture students will use the equipment to better understand the stages of seed production, light and humidity levels needed for optimum growth and how to provide fresh vegetables for their community.
Wellston FFA received funds to purchase new laptops for use within the Wellston Agricultural Education Department. The laptops will help prepare students for life beyond the classroom and will be used for new STEM-integrated projects, experiments and lessons.
"Gaining access to new equipment and technology allows students to explore what's possible in FFA and the agriscience industry," said Jacey Fye, executive director of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation. "Devon's generous grants will help open avenues to prosperous careers and further solidify the value of STEM education."
Devon started the FFA Technology & Innovation Grants in 2019 to increase access to advanced tools being used in the agriculture industry and provide hands-on learning opportunities.
"Having resources to experiment and gain real-world experience fosters student ingenuity and creativity," said Christina Rehkop, Devon's director of community relations. "Devon is dedicated to providing the education future leaders need to succeed."
