Dr. Clint Rusk of OSU's Animal Science Department Says the Judge Selects the Best Animals- But the Young People Are the Real Show The Department Head of the Animal Science Department at Oklahoma State University, Dr. Clint Rusk, loves attending the Oklahoma Youth Expo and interacting with many of the thousands of young    4-H and FFA members who are showing livestock at what is called the "World's Largest Junior Livestock Show."

Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays talked with Dr. Rusk between classes at the breeding gilt show on the first day of the 2017 OYE- and Rusk acknowledged that while the judge was busy sorting which of the gilts were the best in each class- the young people were being showcased as they handled their animals.

Dr. Rusk says that the life skills gained from being responsible for the well being of a hog, a goat, a sheep or a beef heifer or steer are skills that make young men and women who are involved in these young organizations better equipped to do life.

Dr. Rusk also offered an update on the Animal Science Department at OSU, including a rundown on the efforts of the various judging teams fielded by Oklahoma State University.
