Lydia Straka of Yukon FFA Shows Grand Champion Market Lamb at 2017 OYE
Fri, 17 Mar 2017 12:53:19 CDT
The 2017 Oklahoma Youth Expo provided market lamb judge Clay Weber with a lot of animals to eyeball, with over 1,200 shown during the two days in nine breeds and categories. On Thursday evening, Weber wrapped up his consideration of the market lambs by using the Champion Crossbred as his 2017 Grand Champion Market Lamb. That crossbred was shown by Lydia Straka of the Yukon FFA Chapter.
Straka is no stranger to the Grand Drive on Thursday night at the OYE. Her lamb was the bronzer Medalion lamb a year ago- and she had the Grand Champion Lamb at the 100th Anniversary edition of the OYE in 2015- garnering a $25,000 bid for her market lamb two years ago. In 2015- she was a member of the El Reno 4-H.
Reserve Grand Champion honors belong to Kamden Urban from the Mt. View- Gotebo FFA Chapter with his Natural Color Lamb. Third place- signified by a Bronze Medalion- went to the Reserve Crossbred shown by Katelyn Blevins of Hobart FFA.
A total of 46 market lambs will be in the Friday afternoon Sale of Champions. Click here to see the Sale of Champions Sale Order Catalog.
