Lt. Governor Candidate Matt Pinnell Visits Exhibitors at OYE, Says Core Service Critical to Rural Okla.

Lt. Governor Candidate Matt Pinnell Visits Exhibitors at OYE, Says Core Service Critical to Rural Okla. Matt Pinnell, a candidate in this year's Lt. Governor race for Oklahoma, visited with exhibitors and their families this week at the Oklahoma Youth Expo. Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays spoke with him briefly to ask why he is interested in throwing his hat into state politics and what he will do - if elected - for rural Oklahomans. Listen to their full conversation by clicking or tapping the LISTEN BAR below at the bottom of the page.

"I think we need a few new fresh faces down at the State Capital, first off," Pinnell said when asked about his interest in joining the race. "I think people are done with the status quo. They want people who are uniquely qualified to do the job."

Pinnell and his wife together, are small business owners from the Tulsa area, where they operate a baby product manufacturing business and warehouse near Bixby. As business owners, Pinnell says he and his wife wake every morning asking themselves, 'How are we going to sell something today to put food on the table, put our kids through school and everything else?'

"I know there's a lot of business owners right here (at OYE)," he said. "There's a lot of good Oklahomans here that care about who their next Lt. Governor is, which is the small business advocate on the cabinet. So, I'm running because I'm about entrepreneurship. I'm about small business and the ag community as well as every other community."

When it comes to being efficient with our state's budget and finances while adequately attending to the needs of citizens, Pinnell says three core services must be prioritized.

"That's education, roads and bridges and healthcare," he stated. "I know people in this arena care about all three of those. The next Governor and Lt. Governor are going to have to come together and work as a team this time to fix those problems long-term."

As Lt. Governor, Pinnell says he will be a champion for the ag community and small businesses across the state, to protect their interests and what is good and right for Oklahoma.
