Grand Champion Barrow at Oklahoma Youth Expo Sells for a $20,000 Payday for Collin Listen of El Reno
Mon, 23 Mar 2009 21:40:55 CDT
The 2009 Oklahoma Youth Expo Grand Champion Market Barrow was shown by Collin Listen of the El Reno FFA Chapter in Canadian County- and Collin told us after his market hog won the world's largest junior livestock show that the barrow's name was Tank- and he was just a "big time pet." Well, Tank was the first of 65 barrows that was to be auctioned off on Monday evening- and the Grand Champion brought $20,000, down from the $25,000 paid for the top barrow of a year ago.
The buyers group that banded together to but the barrow from El Reno included the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Blue and Gold Sausage and the Choctaw Nation.
The Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow sold for $16,000- and Central States Trailers and Dorchester Capital were the winning bidders.
