BSE Media TeleConference- Coordinated by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association
Wed, 25 Apr 2012 03:54:52 CDT
On April 24, 2012(Tuesday afternoon), the United States Department of Agriculture announced the nation's fourth case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), sometimes called mad cow disease, in a dairy cow from central California. USDA did not offer media outside of the USDA headquarters in our nation's capitol any coverage of the event except through a written statement released via email.
The National Cattlemen's Beef Association did offer a teleconference later in the afternoon that was listened to by both ag trade media as well as members of the general media, including the infamous ABC reporter who has pushed the "pink slime" concept via his national TVcoverage of Lean Finely Textured Beef.
We have the full audio of the News Teleconference for you to listen to- it features answers from Dr. Guy Loneragan is an epidemiologist at Texas Tech University. Click on the LISTEN BAR below to hear the news teleconference in full.
