USDA’s Latest WASDE Report Offers Mixed Signals for Key Crops

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today released its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) and Crop Production reports, indicating a slightly bullish sentiment for corn and wheat, while maintaining a neutral stance on soybeans. Key adjustments include increased old-crop corn exports and subsequent reductions in ending stocks for both old- and new-crop corn.

Farm Director KC Sheperd spoke with Rich Nelson of Allendale to break down the numbers, which primarily focused on old-crop adjustments and a conservative approach to new-crop production figures.

June Crop Production Report Shows Winter Wheat Production in Oklahoma Unchanged from Last Month

The monthly Crop Production Report was published by the USDA on June 12, and Oklahoma’s USDA State Statistician, Troy Marshall, went over the numbers as for Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas, with our own Stevie White. As summer crops are still being planted, Winter Wheat was the lone star of this month’s report.

Oklahoma saw no changes from last month’s Crop Production report. Oklahoma’s producers are still expected to harvest 2.75 million acres with a 39-bushel-per-acre yield. Production is still estimated to be down about 1 percent from last year at 107 million bushels. The difference, Marshall noted, is the amount of harvested acres.

OCA’s Cheers New Meat Labeling Law Over Possible Food Bans in Oklahoma

Oklahoma Farm Report’s Ron Hays talked with Executive Vice President Michael Kelsey of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. Yesterday, they recalled OCA’s wins and losses of the 2025 Oklahoma legislative session. Today, they are discussing the proper labeling of fake meat and more.

According to Kelsey, OCA strongly supported the labelling bill for cell-cultured proteins. He said, “Our policy doesn’t support the government having the authority to ban certain foods. Whether we like it or not, this is a food. If you give the government the ability to ban food, that is a very slippery slope. While I certainly trust this legislature, I don’t know what the legislature in thirty years is going to be like – they may want to try to ban beef! We just prefer the labeling side. We were successful in that. We got that bill to the governor, and he signed that.”

The American Soybean Association appreciates Chairman John Boozman’s efforts to include farm bill programs within the legislation that are key for ASA. Caldwell and Haste Celebrate Historic $75 Million Investment in County Roads and Bridges

House Appropriations & Budget Chair Trey Caldwell, R-Lawton, and Vice Chair of Senate Appropriations Sen. John Haste, R-Broken Arrow, applauded the governor’s signing of House Bill 2758, landmark legislation they authored that delivers up to $75 million in new resources for county roads and bridges across Oklahoma. The measure, which now becomes law, is one of the largest single-year investments in county transportation infrastructure in state history. It provides critical support to counties as they work to improve road conditions, address structurally deficient bridges, and bolster rural and urban transportation networks that Oklahomans rely on every day.

“This puts this critical funding directly into the hands of our counties to fix the roads and bridges they know best,” Caldwell said. “This will keep Oklahomans safe as they travel. It will keep commerce moving through our rural and urban areas to the economic benefit of all Oklahomans, and it will lead to job growth and support the long-term future of Oklahoma’s infrastructure. We’re proud to stand with county officials in delivering the resources they’ve long needed.”

Haste, the Senate author of the bill added, “This legislation is about solving real problems in every corner of our state. Oklahoma currently has 1,764 structurally deficient county bridges, making this historic investment critical to public safety and infrastructure modernization. HB 2758 delivers the funding counties need to begin replacing them, and to upgrade thousands of miles of rural roads that are vital to public safety, agriculture, and economic development.”
