Oklahoma Congressman Talks Ag Budget Issues and More with RON

Wed, 03 Feb 2010 13:16:03 CST

Oklahoma Congressman Talks Ag Budget Issues and More with RON The top Republican of the House Ag Committee, Congressman Frank Lucas of the Third District of Oklahoma says he is amazed that the President and his team forgot the response of Congress one year ago when they proposed in their first budget to drastrically reduce farm program and conservation program outlays. One year ago, they made similar proposals and were blasted on a bipartisan basis by members of Congress and most farm and conservation groups.

Earlier this week, the President rolled out big cuts for these same programs- and Congressman Lucas says these proposals again face strong opposition on both sides of the aisle, especially in an election year.

Click on the Listen Bar below and you can hear our conversation with Congressman Frank Lucas on a variety of subjects- the budget, trade agreements, farm bill implementation, hearings on the next farm bill and the woes of the FSA in getting payments out correctly to farmers in many parts of the country.
