Learn How Cattle Parasites "Make a Living" and that Tells Us How to Best Control Them.
Wed, 03 Mar 2010 6:30:45 CST
Dr. Tom Craig of Texas A&M Vet Medical School researches cattle parasites- and he tells us that the 80-20 rule applies to parasites and cattle, much as it does when it comes to money and people. Dr. Craig says that some cows are more susceptable to cattle parasites than others and that it's pretty accurate to say that 20% of your cows will have about 80% of the worms in your cattle herd.
Dr. Craig, our guest on today's Beef Buzz, tells us that his job is to discover how the cattle parasite "makes a living" and then use that information to break the life cycle of the parasite and help improve the bottom line of the cattle producer as a result. Take a listen at how he describes his work by clicking on the Listen Bar below.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
