DuPont Uses Commodity Classic Sorghum General Session to Unveil Inzen Trait Line for Sorghum Industry

DuPont Crop Protection’s Wayne Schumacher announced details of the DuPont plan for new over-the-top grass and weed control technology soon to be available to the sorghum industry. DuPont believes that these new traits could change the way farmers grow sorghum and the Sorghum Checkoff has worked with DuPont on best management practices for the technology.

Schumacher says that DuPont has decided on the name for this line of traits- the DuPont Inzen trait line. There will actually be two non GMO traits that will be stacked in sorghum hybrids that will allow sorghum producers to have two choices in herbicide control for grass weeds post emergence.

For tank mix application, DuPont plans on offering to farmers Zest Herbicide, while for a broad post emergence choice, farmers will have Assure II that will be brought to market. DuPont hopes to have limited availability by 2012, with wider distribution in 2013.

We talked with Wayne Schumacher after his presentation and announcement of the names to the Sorghum General Session during the 2010 Commodity Classic here in Anaheim- you can click on the Listen Bar below to hear our conversation with Wayne about this new set of tools that will be available for the grain sorghum industry.
