Oklahoma Vet Board and OVMA Call on Senate for Two Specific Changes in HB3202
Wed, 31 Mar 2010 9:43:50 CDT
Three groups that represent the Veterinary community in the state of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, the Oklahoma Veterinary Technician Association and the Oklahoma Board of Veterinary Examiners have formed a united front in asking for two changes in HB 3202, as the Oklahoma Senate prepares to vote on the bill this week.
The groups all agree that some clarification of what animal husbandry is will keep outsiders from coming in and practicing Vet Medicine without the proper credentials. They also agree that the certification of Teeth Floaters should be in the same agency as the person who is charged with their enforcement and oversight. All three groups recommend that the State Veterinarian be responsible for both licensing and oversight of these non Vet technicians.
