Tanner Goodson and Heston Prewitt Top 2010 OYE Gilt Show

The 2010 Oklahoma Youth Expo Gilt Show wrapped up on Tuesday with the Commercial Gilts. The top end of the Commercial gilts earned some substantial scholarship money for their owners. Heston Prewitt of the Perry FFA had the Champion Commercial Gilt- and earned $4,000 in Scholarship cash. The Reserve Champion Commercial Gilt was shown and is owned by Brock Herren of the El Reno FFA, earning Brock $3,000 in scholarship monies.
Third, fourth and fifth place gilts in the Commercial show earned their owners $1,500 in scholarship bucks- those placings were third- Ashton Thompson of the Rock Creek FFA, Fourth- Kolby Slater of Alva 4-H and Fifth- Meredith Lowry of Weatherford FFA.
On Monday, the Supreme Champion Purebred Gilt was shown by Tanner Goodson of Yukon 4-H, winning $4,000 in Scholarship dollars for his Champion Duroc. The Reserve Supreme Purebred Gilt was shown by another Canadian County 4-Her, Rhylee Straka of El Reno 4-H, earning $3,000 for her top Hampshire gilt. We have the full listing of the breed champions and reserve champions below- including the two breeds that we did not have in our list on Monday evening- the Berkshires and the Poland Chinas. Breed Champs earned $1,500 while the Reserve Breed Winners grabbed a $750 scholarship.
