Akaushi Cattle Deliver to the Consumer "Good" Fat- So Claims Bill Fielding of Heartbrand Beef
Mon, 05 Apr 2010 15:59:32 CDT
Today's Beef Buzz offers more from Bill Fielding of Heartbrand Beef, who says that the Akaushi Japanese Red cattle offer a unique fat composition which can actually lower "bad" cholesterol and raise "good" cholesterol.
Besides the better fat composition than the US cattle herd offers, Fielding claims that a cross with an Akaushi bull can result in a better beef quality score, and a lower yield grade.
Fielding offers details of these claims on today's Beef Buzz.
In 1994 due to a loophole in the trade Act of 1992 between the United States and Japan, a small nucleus of Akaushi cows and bulls were brought to the United States in a specially equipped Boeing 747. Today, Akaushi genetics in the US are controlled by a group of Texans under the name HeartBrand Beef, Inc.

A Breed Association has now been formed here in North America for these animals- click here for the website they have established.
Today's beef Buzz is actually part two of a four part series with Bill Fielding- click here for the Monday Beef Buzz, which was part one.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
