The Pictures Tell the Story of the 2010 Wheat Crop Versus 2009

Tue, 13 Apr 2010 18:23:37 CDT

The Pictures Tell the Story of the 2010 Wheat Crop Versus 2009 Looking back twelve months ago, we took pictures of what turned out to be a decimated 2009 Oklahoma wheat crop- in the pictures we showed you in April 2009, you saw a thin stand, very short wheat that was largely headed out and many of the heads are already turned white due to freeze damage.

The first picture here at the top is of that damage from 2009. The other pictures bellow come from a couple of Canadian County fields in the northeastern corner of the County- pictures that were taken today, April 13, 2010. It was easy to see there was a much better stand, and while there were some heads showing around the edges of the field- once you walked a few feet into the field, the crop was about a foot tall and in the jointing stage, looking very healthy.

Picture number one at the top is the freeze damaged 2009 crop as seen in Central Oklahoma- the rest of these shots are from a much better crop to date- the pictures seen here of the 2010 crop taken April 13, 2010.
