Canola Across Oklahoma Looks Terrific- Here's the Pictures to Prove It
Tue, 13 Apr 2010 20:06:53 CDT
Winter Canola continues to become more a part of the landscape across the wheat belt of the state of Oklahoma- and earlier today, we had the chance to get out and spend some time in northern Canadian County and southern Kingfisher County- Everywhere you look you see the lush green carpet across fields that is a rapidly growing 2010 Hard Red Winter Wheat Crop- but at several points- you would see a splash of bright yellow on the horizon. That yellow is the canola planted last fall and now in what will soon be full bloom.
USDA estimates that there were 80,000 acres of canola planted in the state last fall- and if all the acres look as good as the fields we saw- nearly every acre will be harvested come June. The pictures here show a wide angle view of a blooming Canola field, then a shot closer and then one closer still. These shots were taken April 13, 2010 in northeastern Canadian County.
Picture number one at the top is a wide angle view of a bright yellow canola field- then the next two shots take you closer to look at the individual blooms.
