Wheat Farmers Delighted With Rainfall of Recent Days

Mon, 19 Apr 2010 6:16:24 CDT

Wheat Farmers Delighted With Rainfall of Recent Days We were hearing more and more concerns about the stress on the 2010 wheat crop this past week- because of no rain in several weeks. That concern was washed away over the weekend over a lot of the state, especially in the major wheat producing areas of the state.

Woods and Alfalfa Counties got only a limited amount of rain, with the smallest amounts seen right on the Kansas-Oklahoma line. However, one Woods County farmer, Joe Shirley, feels that he got enough rainfall to keep his crop progressing.

Further south in the western two thirds of Oklahoma, rainfall amounts from 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain were very common from the slow moving system that moved across Oklahoma over this past weekend.
