The Beef Industry Needs Herd Rebuilding to Begin
Thu, 27 May 2010 5:20:44 CDT
Today's Beef Buzz features comments from Gregg Doud of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association- who talks with us about the current tight cattle supplies and what that means for cattle and beef prices.
Doud says we are a point where he would like to see some rebuilding of the US beef cattle herd, saying that while the tight cattle supplies help undergird cattle prices here in the short term- we may be hurting the longer term prospects for the industry.
Doud says "it may be time for us to think strategically" when it comes to herd rebuilding- to make sure we have adequate supplies of beef to compete with pork and pountry in future years.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
