Frederick Area Trying to Start Wheat Harvest
Sat, 29 May 2010 10:19:55 CDT
The latest harvest word we have received is from Mike Cassidy of Cassidy Grain in Frederick.
He emails us on Friday afternoon that "we received our first load this morning at Hollister elevator, cut last night. sample yesterday went 12.9% moisture, load went 12.1% moisture. Test weight was 61.7. variety was jagger, the only one ready as of yet. Protein 11.0. only other protein we have so far was 10.8. Several will try to sample this evening."
Mike expects that there will be combines in the field and Harvest really starting to get going Sunday through Tuesday. He is concerned about the cold front that may bring rain Sunday night into Monday across the bigger wheat producing counties of the state.
