Wheat Harvest Turning Active in Select Locations- Others Wait for a Few Days More- Mike Schulte Reports

The Oklahoma Wheat Commission has a rundown of what they are hearing and seeing when it comes to wheat harvest 2010- and we have an audio recap with Mike Schulte, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Wheat Commission that you can hear by clicking on the Listen Bar at the bottom of this webpage.
Here's what the Wheat Commission is reporting in a blog post from their Facebook page:
Apache area:
No reports of any wheat taken in this area, however elevator managers predict they will get some of their first loads in today.
Altus area:
Producers are really getting rolling in this area. Our sources say the moisture is "amazingly low for the start of harvest," averaging 11.5 percent. The test weights are averaging 62 pounds, and yields are at 35 bushels per acre.
Frederick area:
We received reports of more abandonment than predicted before, however the current yields are ranging from the low 30's to mid 40's. Test weights ranging from 62 to 64 lbs. It is predicted that 25 percent of has been harvested over the Memorial Day weekend.
Hobart area:
Test weights coming in at 60 to 62.5 pounds. Yields are predicted to be around 40 to 45 bushel average. Harvest has progressed fast in this area over the weekend. Click here for pictures that we have here on our website from Kiowa County.
Hollis area:
Sources in this region say producers should really be able to get rolling today. They haven't taken in many loads but the moisture is coming in at 11.9 percent, before the hot and dry conditions predicted for their region the next few days.
Rocky area:
A few loads of wheat were taken in yesterday. Estimates on that wheat were predicted to be making around 40 to 45 bushels per acre. Test weights are ranging from 62.5 to 64 pounds.
Sentinel area:
No reports of any wheat taken in this area, however producers predict they will start cutting today.
Walters area:
Reports from here indicated test weights ranging from 59 to 63+ pounds, with moisture all over the board on the test loads coming in; From 10 to 16 percent. Yields are varying among graze out and non, from 15 to 44 bushels per acre. Sources believe the next few days will really become active for producers.
