Sun, 20 Jun 2010 22:05:24 CDT
The World Livestock Auctioneer Champion for 2010 is Kyle Shobe of Lewistown, Montana- meaning that the Montana can lay claim to two world champs in a row with 2009 Champ Ty Thompson of Billings, Montana announcing the name of the Auctioneer that succeeds him this coming year.
Shobe talked with us briefly after his name was called as the best of the 33 Semi finalists at the 2010 competition, held at the Oklahoma National Stockyards in Oklahoma City. You can hear that interview as well as listen to several drafts of cattle auctioned off with the rapid fire delivery of Shobe. The reserve World Champion for 2010 is Darren T. Carter of Ninety Six, South Carolina, while the Runner Up Champion was Charly Cummings who calls Yates Center, Kansas home.
The three winners take home thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, including, for the world champion, a year's free use of a new truck.
The contest was the closing event for LMA's annual convention, which began June 17 at the Renaissance Convention Center Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. It is open to marketing business owners and producers, and will feature knowledgeable speakers on several key industry issues.
