Pushed Canola Harvest in Pictures- Part Three
Mon, 07 Jun 2010 6:49:54 CDT
Winter Canola Harvest is underway- and a big fan of this alternative crop for wheat producers is Canadian County Extension Educator Brad Tipton. Tipton believes that this crop has the potential to save wheat production in the state of Oklahoma, as it allows farmers to finally break an escalating problem with competing weeds that are showing up in the wheat fields more and more each growing season.
These pictures are Part Three of a series of photos provided by Tipton from the harvest on June 5th north of El Reno in Canadian County. The top picture here shows pushed canola flowing nicely into the feeder housing to be thrashed.
The second picture shows the full combine getting ready to line up with the Semi trailer- preparing to dump the canola. Our third picture shows canola berries pouring out on both sides fills up the trucks in just a little over 2 combine dumps. With the canola pouring out of the spout- it really does look like black gold.
The next to last picture in this series shows the combine back to work in the field, picking up more of the pushed canola. Our fifth and final picture for Part Three shows a view from the cab of Combine Number One of Combines Two and Three- almost done with the field.
First Photo at the top is of Canola flowing into the combine header- with the next couple of shots of transferring canola from combine to truck and then the last couple of shows show the combines back picking up more of the "Black Gold."
