Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame Banquet Set for July 8 in Denver

The second annual Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame banquet will be held July 8, 2010, at 5 p.m. in Denver, Colo. This year’s event will feature the announcement of the newest inductees of the Hall of Fame, as well as the first recipient of the Industry Leadership Award.

The 2010 Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame inductees were selected by a nominating committee and then voted on by their peers. The purpose of the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame is to celebrate the rich traditions of the cattle-feeding industry and recognize individuals who have devoted their careers to preserving its mission and improving production practices. The two cattle feeders who will be inducted during the 2010 banquet will join the 2009 inductees – Paul Engler and W.D. Farr – in the elite Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame
.
New for 2010, an Industry Leadership Award will be presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the cattle-feeding industry outside the feedyard. The annual Industry Leadership Award was created to honor an outstanding cattle-feeding industry advocate.

“We are extremely excited about this year’s Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame banquet,” says Betty Jo Gigot, chairperson of the Hall of Fame nominating committee. “The two new Hall of Fame inductees, as well as the recipient of the Industry Leadership Award, truly deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to our industry.”

Tickets for the 2010 Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame banquet will be available online until June 23- click here for the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame Website.. Individual tickets and corporate table sponsorships are available. All proceeds from ticket sales and corporate sponsorships will benefit future initiatives for the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame. All funds from tickets purchased by cattle feeders will be donated in full to the Hall of Fame.

Donations to the Hall of Fame also can be made at the website linked above.

The five nominees that have been voted on by the beef industry include Ladd Hitch of Guymon, Oklahoma; Kenneth Monfort of Colorado; Robert Robholz of Agri-Beef, Inc; E.C. Crofoot of Kansas and Louie Dinklage of Eastern Nebraska.

The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame was established in March 2009 to recognize individuals who have made extraordinary and lifelong contributions to the cattle-feeding industry.
The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame nominating committee is composed of five industry leaders: Betty Jo Gigot, editor and publisher of CALF News; Richard McDonald, former CEO of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association; Dr. Del Miles, veterinarian and industry consultant; Terry Stokes, former CEO of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association; and Topper Thorpe, former CEO of Cattle-Fax.
