Oklahoma Spring Crop Harvest Looks Promising Based on Latest Crop Report from USDA

Thu, 12 Aug 2010 11:33:37 CDT

Oklahoma Spring Crop Harvest Looks Promising Based on Latest Crop Report from USDA The USDA has released Crop Production numbers based on field survey work as of August first. We have details on both this report from USDA's NASS, as well as the Supply Demand data from the Economic Research Service, which shows a sharply reduced global wheat stock number.

Click here for our earlier coverage of these two reports at the national and global level.

In general, Oklahoma's spring planted crops have fared well, despite the recent weeks of hot drier weather. For example, the corn crop is projected to have the same number of acres this year as last, but a thirty bushel per acre increase in yields- pictured here is some of that corn growing back at the end of June in Grant County. Only grain sorghum will see a smaller crop produced this year versus 2009. Click on the LISTEN BAR below to hear our recap of the Oklahoma Crop Production numbers that we have gleaned from the August 12 USDA report.
