NFU Pleased with Support for U.S. Farmers and Ranchers by Senators
Fri, 13 Aug 2010 17:09:23 CDT
The National Farmers Union applauds the 21 Senators who signed the letter to Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack in regard to the proposed rule by USDA's Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration. NFU President Roger Johnson says the establishment of greater stability through transparency in the marketplace is of utmost importance for the future of the livestock industry in the United States. Johnson says the proposed rule is a significant step in the right direction to provide producers with the means to sell their products in a fair marketplace. He says the process for passing the rule has been slowed due to a comment period extension - and he urges Vilsack to issue a final rule as soon as practically feasible after the comment period is closed.
