Wed, 04 Aug 2010 17:52:52 CDT
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced the investment of 1.2-billion dollars in 126 new Recovery Act broadband infrastructure projects across 38 states and Native American tribal areas that will create jobs and provide those rural residents access to improved broadband service. Vilsack says the projects will give rural Americans access to the tools they need to attract new businesses, jobs, health care and educational opportunities. According to an analysis by the National Economic Council - the projects help bring down the cost of private investment, attract Internet service providers to new areas, improve digital literacy among students and workers and help create new employment, education and business opportunities by wiring homes and businesses.
