Representatives Holding Environmental Forum
Tue, 28 Sep 2010 17:38:42 CDTOklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas along with colleagues Sam Graves and Doc Hastings, co-chairs of the Rural America Solutions Group, will host a forum to discuss Environmental Protection Agency regulations and initiatives that are hindering job creation and economic expansion in America's rural communities. The forum, entitled "The EPA's Assault on Rural America" begins at 1:00 p.m. central time in the House Visitor Center.
The Co-Chairs will lead a panel discussion on a range of EPA proposals and related legislation, including carbon dioxide restrictions, the Clean Water Act, farm dust regulations, hydraulic fracturing and more. Experts from across the country have been invited to discuss how these EPA regulations are impacting the livelihoods of farmers, ranchers and small businesses throughout rural America.
National Cattlemen's Beef Association Chief Environmental Counsel Tamara Thies will represent NCBA's members during this afternoon's forum. One of the subjects to be discussed will be EPA regulations on farm dust. Ties says - farmers and ranchers could be fined for everyday activities like driving a tractor down a dirt road or tilling a field. Thies pledged to speak firmly against EPA's attempt to regulate our members out of business.
