GIPSA Proposed Rule in NCBA Spotlight at their Legislative Conference
Fri, 17 Sep 2010 5:47:46 CDT
Cattle producers from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C. this week for the 2010 NCBA Legislative Conference. They heard from a variety of speakers- including Kansas Senator Pat Roberts as well as the Administrator of GIPSA, Dudley Butler.
One of those in attendance was Scott Dewald of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association. Dewald talked with us about the events of this week at the NCBA Conference- and he says clearly the topic most cussed and discussed was the proposed GIPSA Marketing Rule for Livestock. After the cattlemen heard from Butler, there was worry that the Obama Administration has already made their mind up and will possibly ignore any and all comments made about the proposal that does not agree with how the rule is written.
In addition, discussion about the Death Tax, EPA Regulations and the November midterm elections were a part of the fall gathering- and are issues that we talked about with Dewald.
